Concentration of head offices in Duisburg and Essen

The ThyssenKrupp Group plans to concentrate its main corporate head offices at two sites in the coming years. These sites will be Duisburg and Essen. The existing site at Duisburg-Hamborn can already be described as a kind of ThyssenKrupp Quarter.

It is planned to develop the second ThyssenKrupp Quarter in Essen on ThyssenKrupp-owned land adjacent to Altendorfer Street, very close to the City of Essen. The whole area has a size of about 12 ha ≈ about 29,7 acres.

Beside several modern and functional office buildings to be erected for the ThyssenKrupp staff, the planned ThyssenKrupp Academy with its spacious campus is to be integrated into this site, too. This Academy where the Group's executives from all over the world will be trained for their future tasks, will be the core component of the project. It is planned to hold an architectural contest to ensure that the entire building complex will be an impressive landmark in the city with an optimum of functionality.

The further proceeding – from project development in several steps up to the final turnkey move – will be realized in close cooperation with a reputated project management company preparing all decisive steps for the contractor. This project management company will identy qualified architects and expert engineers for the necessary civil engineering work for every phase of development and construction.

It will take up to five years to stepwise establish the new ThyssenKrupp Quarter in Essen. The move by ThyssenKrupp AG from Düsseldorf to Essen is planned for the end of 2008 earliest. Finally, over 2,000 people will be employed in the new ThyssenKrupp Quarter.
